Many are criticizing Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis who failed to convene the traditional meet with members of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha ahead of the budget session in Parliament.
Former chief minister Prithviraj Chavan said that it was unfortunate that the CM chose to deviate from convention. “No doubt, the MPs’meeting is customary, but interaction with Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha members is essential. I too was a CM, but ensured that the meeting is held before every session of Parliament.”
Chavan, who was a Union minister of state for a prolonged period, said the meeting gives the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha members an opportunity to interact with the CM and suggest issues that need to be raised in Parliament. “We have many pending issues with the Centre, particularly with the ministry of railways, water resources, home and law and judiciary. If MPs are briefed, they will certainly take them up with the concerned Union ministers.”
