Political circles are abuzz with implications of the NCP chief’s snub and speculations are rife about new alliances. The Chief Minister Ashok Chavan has publicly disapproved of Sharad Pawar’s visit to Matoshree, reports Nilofar Shaikh. Chief Minister Ashok Chavan has disapproved of Union Food Minister and NCP Chief Sharad Pawar’s meeting with Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray. He has said that there was no need to take permission from any other authority in the State. There cannot be an extra- constitutional authority. Government is competent, it is the authority and there can not be two authorities in state, Chief Minister Ashok Chavan has said. He asserted his government was “competent enough” to handle any law and order problem in the State. It embarrasses the Chief Minister who has been promising protection to Shah Rukh Khan and the cricketers who will play in the State. While political commentators wonder Pawar would explore alternative political options, the Congress officially recorded its disapproval of the Sena -NCP meeting through Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan. On the other hand it is no longer a secret that Congress is tacitly supporting MNS, whose existence has proved beneficial going by the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections.
