CNG STATION ALOTTED TO VICTIMS OF THE MUMBAI TERROR ATTACK

Petroleum minister Murli Deora handed over letters allotting dealership of CNG and petrol pumps to the families of two NSG commandos and 16 state police personnel who laid down their lives while fighting terrorists during 26/11. Present during the occasion was Chief Minister Ashok Chavan. Four of the 16 beneficiaries would get CNG stations in the city. The others would get them in places of their choice. Remembering his interactions with slain ATS chief Hemant Karkare and additional commissioner Ashok Kamte, chief minister Ashok Chavan said 26/11 was unimaginable and unforgettable. The chief minister said handing over land for CNG stations to the martyrs’ families was the state’s way of helping the families move on. In an attempt to avoid controversy, Chavan said the allotment of CNG stations and petrol pumps was not a political move to gain mileage. Not commenting much on other issues, the chief minister spoke on the security of the state and spoke on the Force One Commando battalion. The family members of NSG commando Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, Karkare’s wife, Kamte’s parents and his wife as well as the daughter of inspector Vijay Salaskar are among the beneficiaries.
