Looks like the Congress does not need the Opposition to embarrass it. For often its own leaders are seen making remarks that expose that not all is well within the Congress party. The latest being senior Congress leader Dr. Patangrao Kadam who in a recent Congress meet at Thane said that there were factions and in – differences within the Congress party that needs to be addressed first. Monika Bhosale reports. All the parties have started their homework for the next elections by meeting party workers a various levels all over the state. One such public awareness campaign that the Congress has started with the aim of taking their work to the end voters is underway in the city of Thane where a beeline of senior party leaders are addressing meets. One being the meet at Kisan Nagar at Thane where state minister and senior Congress leader Dr. Patangaro Kadam was present to guide Congress party worker. But the leader made rather controversial confessions stating that no one can defeat Congress except for Congress. And Congress would defeat Congress because of the indifferences, the factions and the disunity within the Congress party. He said that the way the state has started a CLEANLINESS drive for villages across the state, the same way a cleanliness drive needs to be conducted in the Congress Party. His statement attains significance as the minister was addressing the meet in the ward of Thane Municipal Corporation’s corporator Ravindra Phatak who is also a staunch Narayan Rane supporter. Whatever was Dr. Patangrao Kadam’s intention beyond any doubt a senior leader of the stature of him making such remarks does not only spell trouble for the Congress but also exposes the bid challenge that the party has to face to retain power in the next elections.
