The traffic police has proposed a slew of measures, including allowing uni-directional traffic on Peddar Road during peak hours, for the smooth flow of traffic after the Bandra-Worli sea link is completed in January 2009. As per the traffic police observations over 6,000 vehicles pass through Haji Ali every hour during peak time. The sea link is expected to add more vehicles on the stretch, leading to bottlenecks at the Worli-Haji Ali stretch. The sea link will enable motorists to zip from Kherwadi junction to Worli in ten minutes. MSRDC has decided to construct two car decks (small flyovers for light vehicles) at the cost of Rs 30 crore on Worli Sea Face. The MSRDC has also proposed a bridge at Bandra to connect Bandra Bandstand to the sea link. A proposal to widen Annie Besant road was also included but the government is still to take a decision on acquiring additional area for the project.
