Crocodile chills in pond behind NMMC HQ at Belapur; video goes viral

In a seemingly shocking appearance, Navi Mumbaikars have captured the sights of an adult crocodile resting in the marshy pond area behind the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation Head Office Building in Belapur since past two days.

A short video clip of the crocodile was taken by a local fisherman which went onto go viral sending chills down the spine of Navi Mumbaikars over concerns of safety.

The local fishermen have urged the forest authorities to take the crocodile away as it poses a threat to anyone going to the marshy site.

Honorary wildlife warden of state forest department Pawan Sharma of Reqink Association for Wildlife Welfare (RAWW) said, “The crocodile seems to be surviving in that marshy area as there are enough fish and crabs. It is likely that during heavy rains during high tide, it entered this site. It is also possible that some miscreants left it there.”
