beer-raid-1Several hundred cans and bottles of popular beer brands valued at Rs 5.76 crore were seized by Navi Mumbai based officials of the Weights and Measures office. The raid was carried out in a sister branch of Vijay Mallya’s United Beverages called Bombay beverages Company situated at Taloja. The Weights and Measures office of the Konkan region conducted the raid after receiving a tip-off that the volume content of beer in cans and bottles was less than what was mentioned on the labels. Random samples from various packaged beer boxes were taken to test if the bottles had the correct volume and were found that most of the tested samples had less volume than required in the range of 11 ml to 33 ml in the bottles and cans of 330 ml, 500 ml and 650 ml. The dept seized around 33 thousand 120 cases of Kingfisher beer and another 4 lakh 31172 bottles. The total beer seized amounted to Rs 2 crore 26 lakh 78806. Another set of beer bottles of Rs 34 lakh 6440 containing lesser quantity than 330 ml was also seized. With cameraperson Ravi Nikam, Sudhir Sharma for NMTV News.
