dav-2In order to promote art and culture among the students, the DAV group of schools have been organizing All India Mahatma Hansraj Aryan Youth festival. This year too, the festival was organized at DAV Public School, New Panvel, with participation of over 800 students from various states. DAV group has always been giving importance to academic as well as extra curricular development of students. Therefore, it has been conducting All India Mahatma Hansraj Aryan Youth Zonal festival every year. This year DAV College Managing Committee’s Arya Vidya Sabha organized this festival with a view to provide platform to the blooming young talents. It was a zonal competition, which comprised schools from Gujrat, Maharashtra and Rajasthan. A grand inaugural session of the festival was held at DAV institute for performing arts. Present during the inauguration was regional director of western zone and All India secretary of the festival Dr KB Kushal, Senior Vice President of Reliance Industries Thomas Mathews, principals and teachers of other schools and students. The principal of DAV Public school, New Panvel Alka Lokre highlighted the importance of celebrating the festival. The day included spot painting, greeting card making, classical solo dance, rangoli making and various other competitions. Another traditional art form of India, Kawali was performed by the students. Dressed in traditional attire kawali performers set the stage on fire with their performance. A skit competition was also organized where the students performed skits on various the topics related to various social issues. After the competitions the prize distribution ceremony, where along with Thomas Mathews, Dr Tushar Guha founder, Trustee and Managing Director of Nrityanjali, the institute of performing arts and dance was present as the chief guest.
