Over a month ago, the state government put out the draft report prepared by its school fee regulatory committee on the government website and asked parents for feedback by November 21. The government is now considering extending the deadline for receiving feedback by another month, said Bhalchandra Desle, Maharashtra’s director of school education. A delegation of parents from across the state met Desle on Friday and asked him to extend the deadline. While the government had put up the draft report in English on its website last month, it has now put up the Marathi version. It may take another six months for the government to come out with the final policy. The director of education has been asked to file an affidavit in court calling for a stay on all fee hikes in private unaided schools till the policy is finalized.
