DEATH CASE EXPOSES RUDE BEHAVIOUR OF NURSES IN NMMC HOSPITAL VASHI

nmmc-hospital2A recent death at NMMC hospital in Vashi exposes the negligent and rude behaviour of nurses working in municipal hospitals. Jan Cabral reports. 54 year old Lalita Thomas was admitted in the Intensive care unit of NMMC hospital in Vashi. Suffering from a heart problem, despite the attempts of doctors, she passed away two days later after she was admitted. The estranged family of Lalita Thomas alleges that the patient was mentally tortured and the family members were harassed too by the NMMC nurses working at the ICU right from the time she was admitted. They informed that apart from nurses even the matron at the hospital was rude. In fact, the family alleged that the deceased’s earrings were robbed at the hospital. They informed that their mother had also asked them to change hospitals as she was not comfortable with the nurses. Attempts to contact the hospital in-charge for their comment to the allegations proved futile. This is not the first time that the rude behavior of the nurses and staff in NMMC Hospital has come to light. In the past there have been several cases where in patients have complained about the rude behavior and harsh attitude of nurses at NMMC Hospital. However, ever since Commissioner Vijay Nahata revamped the entire health department of NMMC, this is the first time that a patients’ family has made grave allegations against the nurses of the civic hospital. Hopefully the case will be taken seriously by Dr. Deepak Praopkari – the Chief of the Health Department and others in charge of the working of the NMMC hospital. With cameraman Satish Garud, Jan Cabral for NMTV News.
