On the Palm Beach Road among dense mangroves, debris is being dumped in broad daylight. Ironically debris has been dumped underneath a warning board of NMMC against destruction of mangroves. This is a new warming board put up by NMMC on the Palm Beach Road warning anyone who destroys or destructs mangroves of dire consequences. But what comes as an utmost mockery of the warning board is the debris dumped right underneath the board. With construction activities at their peak in the city and little check on the debris being dumped in Navi Mumbai from nearby cities, such instances of debris being dumped in CRZ areas openly flouting rules is widely being reported. This is one of the most important routes with VIPs plying through it everyday. The fact that anti-social elements do not fear them indicates one of the two things – 1st that either NMMC officials are hands in gloves in such activities or that NMMC is not serious about saving mangroves at all. Else what else can explain such blatant violation of CRZ norms under NMMC’s nose. With Amjad Ansari, Monika Bhosale for NMTV News.
