From the third front party, Deepak Nikhalje filed his nomination papers from Chembur Assembly constituency. He would be contesting against Social Justice Minister Chandrakant Handore. He filed his nomination in the presence of Party Chief Ramdas Athvale. Nikhalje had lost the Lok Sabha elections earlier this year. Underworld don Chhota Rajan’s brother Nikhalje refuted any rumors of receiving assistance from his brother. He expressed his confidence over his victory in the assembly polls.
