Despite High court’s order to BMC to control the deaths of cleaning workers on duty due to unhygienic conditions, the graph seems to be going higher. Even after the filing of a petition in the High court on the increasing rate of deaths of BMC workers, there doesn’t seem to be any change in the approach of the administration towards the cleaning workers. It may be recalled that BMC commissioner held a press conference assuring proper planning for the hygiene of the workers. Also the corporation has spent crores of rupees on the same. Despite BMC’s assurances, these visuals show the dire conditions in which these workers are forced to work in. On the other hand, BMC seems to be blaming the contractor for failing to provide any security equipments to the cleaning workers. We spoke to some of the cleaning workers who expressed their concern with NMTV. BYTE If not the High Court order, then what would save the cleaning workers from their dilemma? With cameraperson Abhay Prasad, Rajeev Mishra for NMTV News.
