DESPITE HURDLES, DEAF AND DUMB SCHOOL STRIVES TO IMPART QUALITY EDUCATION

Deaf-&Dumb-School-4Providing good quality education to special children so that they too can stand equal with others in the society, is although a work of patience and endurances, the municipal special school for Deaf and Dumb, situated at Rabale is trying to do just that. With the aim of providing education to dumb and deaf children of Navi Mumbai, NMMC had started a special school at Rabale on 28 January 2007. The school has 11 classes in which 52 special students study. 80% of the students in the school hail from a very poor economic background. Not able to take the burden of the annual fees of other special schools, this municipal school has come as a blessing for these poor families. Imparting education to special children is a lot of hard work but imparting the same to especially deaf and dumb children needs a lot of patience and endurance and that is exactly what the teachers at this school do. May be the situation in municipal schools are reeling under very poor conditions in education and infrastructure, atleast the same cannot be said about the municipal deaf and dumb school.
