DESPITE NMMC TOWN PLANNING DEPT. DECLARING NEARLY 300 MOBILE TOWERS ILLEGAL, ENCROACHMENT DEPARTMENT STILL TO TAKE ACTION

mobile-Tower3Even though the NMMC Town Planning Department has surveyed around 296 mobile towers as illegal in Navi Mumbai, NMMC Encroachment department is yet to take action against on cellular companies. After the news of illegal mobile towers that had taken its niche in Navi Mumbai was aired on NMTV News, NMMC Town Planning Department conducted a survey of all the mobile towers in the city. According to the survey around 296 mobile towers have been erected in the city which are illegal. The cellular companies have erected these towers without paying the mandatory license fees, totaling to a loss of Rs 12 crores for NMMC. Shockingly, despite the notice sent by the Town Planning department to NMMC Encroachment department informing about the same, the latter is yet to take action. According to the Town Planning Officer, action should be taken as soon as possible as these mobile towers are not just generating a loss for the department but also affecting the health of the citizens. NMMC’s Encroachment department’s muteness has raised many questions of their working. With cameraperson Rajendra Prasad, Sudhir Sharma for NMTV News.
