MHADA has planned to give away the over 1200 homes built by the authority in Mumbai on the lottery system. However the rates at which MHADA plans to open the sale has not impressed the common man. One of the prime focuses of MHADA is to provide Mumbaikars affordable home. In a city that creates international real estate records, there is reason why people from the MIG and LIG await MHADA homes but looks like even this government body has decided to cater to the big league. The over 1200 homes that it is planning to sell on a lottery system has been priced at rates that are beyond the reach of the MIG. The MHADA will release advertisements for the 1200 homes on January 15 inviting people to participate in the lottery allotment scheme. While there is little doubt that many will make a beeline for these homes, there is also no question that there will be no takers from LIG or MIG. Ironically, these classes with be dejected at a time when Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh led state govt. made grand announcements of a housing policy to make homes available for them. Once again looks like the Congress hand is not working for the common man but look like its more tilted towards the rich. A NMTV Bureau report.
