A Samajwadi Party corporator’s name written in Urdu on the name plate was removed and now the case is attaining controversial colors. The party’s state president Abu Asmi met MCGM Commissioner Dr. Jairaj Pathak to strongly condemn this act. Political parties are again attacking each other in the name of language at MCGM. Samajwadi Party corporator Safiya Asmi’s name plate that was written in urdu was removed recently. A delegation of the party headed by state president Abu Asmi met MCGM Commissioner Dr. Jairaj Pathak against this action. The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena too did not miss a chance to join the linguistic politics. They say that if someone wants to put up a nameplate in Urdu they should go Pakistan. The same will never will permitted in MCGM. It is rather unfortunate that instead of taking up the burning civic issues of commoners in Mumbai, the MCGM Corporators are playing linguistic politics that has nothing to do with the welfare of Mumbaikars and is also a shame on the very principles of democracy. Looks like for some leaders, publicity and political mileage is so important that they do not mind stooping down to any levels. Bureau report – NMTV News.
