dighvijay-singhSenior Congress leader and former MP chief minister Digvijay Singh has been pressed into service to counter Machiavellian moves by NCP president Sharad Pawar during the upcoming state legislative assembly polls. AICC General Secretary Digvijay Singh spent a day at MPCC headquarters interacting with party ministers, District Congress Committee chiefs and legislators on seat sharing with the NCP. Singh is expected to fine tune the party’s seat sharing strategy for Western Maharashtra. The Congress is keen to field more candidates in Western Maharashtra after the NCP lacklustre performance in the region during the Lok Sabha polls. The discussions pertained to deliberations on the election preparedness and Singh sought feedback on the ground realities. Singh is member of the A K Anthony committee appointed by the AICC for the state assembly elections. Speaking on the committee’s agenda, Digvijay Singh informed that the committee members would be visiting every state. On possible alliance with the NCP in the upcoming state assembly polls, he preferred not to say much but hinted at the possibility of an alliance.
