MCGM will set up a Wireless Addressable Disaster Emergency Communication system for better disaster management and to avoid hoax calls about disasters. The system will be implemented in BMC-owned buildings like ward offices, civic hospitals and civic schools during the first stage. MCGM will set up a small system called the call centre in the buildings. It will have separate buttons for various disasters which will alert the central fire station about the particular disaster and its location. The fire brigade will send a small, automated aeroplane to the spot, which will capture images en route and at the spot, and send them to the central disaster room and the central fire station. The system will also have information about hospitals, the nearest government offices and the population of the area. The wireless system makes use of the GPRS technology.
