DT Waghmare takes charge as the Municipal commissioner of Navi Mumbai

In a major shake up of bureaucracy, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had transferred 42 IAS officers on Saturday.

With the new chief minister Devendra Fadnavis’ thrust on running the government along the lines of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Centre, the appointments of senior bureaucrats and support staff in the chief minister’s office (CMO) and other ministries has been carried out with thorough scrutiny of eligible candidates.

Fadnavis has  selected officers based on certain parameters, such as a clean service record, efficiency, vision, readiness to put in hard work, ability to maintain confidentiality in matters they handle and an innovative approach at work.

The officers who would definitely stay out are the ones who ran feuds with senior BJP legislators at the district, division or Mantralaya levels when the party was in the opposition.

The chief minister has brought on officials who were side lined by the Congress-NCP government owing to their refusal to blindly toe their line. They will not be allowed to serve any minister in the government for the next five years,” Fadnavis said.

He had informed that any officer, who was already serving a minister before the Government Resolution was issued last week, would be shifted to his parent department at the earliest.

Hence DT Waghmare is now posted as municipal commissioner of Navi Mumbai, while the Navi Mumbai commissioner Abbasaheb Jarhad will be education commissioner in Pune. DT Waghmare took charge as the new municipal commissioner of Navi Mumbai at the NMMC Headquarters.
