Navi Mumbai’s Olympics are back ! The Navi Mumbai Krida Sankul’s “Krida Mahotsav 2011” got a grand inauguration at the hands of the Dy. Chief Minister of Maharashtra Ajit Dada Pawar at NMSA Grounds at Vashi. MLA Sandeep Naik’s “Krida Mahotsav 2011” is back ! The most awaited sports fest of Navi Mumbai could not have got better start with the Dy. Chief Minister Ajit Pawar arriving himself for the inaugural ceremony. The celebrations of the inaugural ceremony started from Shivaji Chowk at Vashi from where a “krida jyot” was taken at the hands of youth NCP Corporators and party workers of the youth wing of NCP to the NMSA grounds and handed over to Dy. Chief Minister Ajitdada Pawar. The event started with the lamp lighting ceremony and then the oath taking ceremony of players. MLA Sandeep Naik welcomed Dy, Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik and gifted a sword to Ajit Pawar in the presence of MP Dr. Sanjeev Naik and Mayor Sagar Naik. In his inaugural address, speaking to the Navi Mumbai Krida Mahotsav, MLA Sandeep Naik said that it was inspired by the Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik initiative of MLA Trophy. He said that there was a need to begin a talent hunt to ensure that the sports stars of Navi Mumbai can be selected for world class training. Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik voiced confidence that the players playing in this sports fest would shine internationally and bring glory to the city. The Minister also made an announcement that is good news for citizens as he said that from next year they plan to organize a Navi Mumbai fest on the lines of Pune Festival. The Dy. Chief Minister Ajit Pawar started his address by showering praises on Ganesh Naik for the dedicated progressive work he has been doing in Navi Mumbai. He was also all praises for MLA Sandeep Naik who is a sportsman himself. The Dy. Chief Minister said that the event was seeing such huge participation that he termed it has Navi Mumbai’s Olympic. He said that the event was of great significance that is why he made it a point to be present for the inaugural ceremony. Later speaking to the media, completely impressed with MLA Sandeep Naik’s “Krida Mahotsav”, the Dy. Chief Minister said that both Ganesh Naik and Sandeep Naik would be taken on board when the state finalizes its sports policy. There is no denying that such sports fest will help to detect and discover sports talents in Navi Mumbai not just in private schools but even NMMC schools who can represent the city for state, national and international events.
