MCGM students are having erratic schooldays as a large number of teachers are on poll duty. School halls are also being used in preparation for the polls. Three weeks after school reopened on June 14, around 2,000 civic teachers continue to remain absent. It is not their fault as they have been warned that if they do not turn up for “election duty,” they will be prosecuted. Chandrashekhar Rokde, deputy municipal commissioner of education, MCGM schools, confirmed that 2,000 teachers had been called for election duty and several school halls being used. This had affected teaching and other school activities.
