City engineer Mohan Dagaonkar has won the prestigious eminent engineering personality award by the Institution of Engineers (India) for his contribution to the field of environment engineering. The award was presented to Dagaonkar during the 32nd national convention of the institute held at Pune.
Municipal commissioner of Pimpri Chinchwad, DT Waghmare presented the award to Dagaonkar. City engineer Dagaonkar, who completed his engineering from Indore University, has done his masters in environment engineering from VJTI, Mumbai. He has played an important role in shaping the satellite city as eco-city.
Other important environment friendly decisions that have been taken by Dagaonkar include pipeline laying work from Morbe dam to Navi Mumbai and supplying water to the city using gravitational force, which has resulted in 50% saving of electricity, monitoring of water supply using Scada system which can detect leakages. Conversion of landfill site in Koparkhairane into nature garden, concretisation of Thane-Belapur Road, establishment of environment cell and mobile environment lab, green building gold rating given to NMMC’s head office which is first to be given to any government office building.
Civic chief Tukaram Mundhe has congratulated Dagaonkar for the achievement.
