From a school teacher to a state board examiner, moderator and now one among the eight teachers from Maharashtra who have been selected for the National Curricular Framework-2005, Jaya Iyer, a teacher of Vashi-based Fr Agnel Multipurpose School, is all excited with the new role she is donning. NCF 2005 is one of the government policies framed by Dr Sam Patruda under the able guidance of Hon. Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh. The whole theme of NCF 2005 is based on constructivism. The programme emphasis on teachers playing a role of facilitator. Iyer is the only teacher from the city to be selected among eight teachers who would train teachers from Mumbai division. Iyer further said that that the aim of the programme is constructivism, i.e. learning by doing. Iyer further said that it’s an initiative by the state education board to change the method of teaching and make it more children-friendly. The Vashi resident further explained that NCF emphasises on on the education and not the qualification. She also said that NCF 2005 stressed on the three language formula which is English, the national language Hindi and the regional language Marathi. She concluded saying that in order to make a change in the current educational system and pattern of teaching, it’s the teachers who would have to plan better and work towards it so that they deliver better.
