The transfer of fifty two police officials in the Thane constituency at the peak of the Thane Lok Sabha By elections has raised eyebrows. Just two days after the transfer of the Thane Police Commissioner, 52 other police officials were transferred from their posts by the order of DGP A N Roy. By the order of the state DGP a total of 567 police officers have been transferred out of which 52 police officials are from the Thane constituency. Amongst the 52 police officials, 28 of them are police inspectors, 12 assistant police inspector and 12 deputy inspectors. This vast transfer of police officers in the Thane police office has caused bedlam in the Thane police department. The Thane Lok Sabha by polls has already taken a sensitive mode with top leaders of the political parties carrying out road shows, tossing allegations and accusations. Hence at the time elections, the responsibility of maintaining peace and security is that of the Thane police department. at a time like this when vigilance of the police department should be the utmost, the police officials have been transferred and replaced by officers who were earlier posted in rural areas of the state. Infact, the newly appointed officers have yet not settled down in the department while the 52 police officials have already been transferred. Apart from Thane, many police senior police officials from Navi Mumbai have also been abruptly transferred. The transfer orders have been issued for eight senior police inspectors that is Dilip Jagtap – Turbhe, Prakash Nilewad – APMC, S K Dubbal – Rabale, B R Patil – kalamboli and Suryakant Ghatge – Panvel.
