FINANCE MINSTER JAYANT PATIL ENDORSES PRIORITY FOR MAHARASHTRIANS

janyth-patil-1Finance Minister Jayant Patil has firmly asked industries to give top priority to Marathis for employment. He stated in the state assembly that investors have been firmly told to give top-priority to Marathi-speaking candidates for employment. He further clarified that by Marathi they mean those who have been residents of Maharashtra for 15 years or more and know Marathi. The district industrial centres (DICs), which act as the nodal agency for the government, have been asked to see that official instructions in this connection are followed in toto,” the finance minister stated. Many say that Jayant Patil’s statement was a clear indication that the ruling DF has set its gaze on the Marathi votebank, especially in industrial hubs such as Mumbai, Thane, Pune and Nashik, in view of the 2009 assembly elections.
