The MCGM administration has brought the proposal of flavoured milk late this year for the approval of the Standing Committee. Members voiced their disappointment over the delay with some even accusing that the delay was to ensure that the tender of the milk that runs into several Crores is approved with much debate. Every year, municipal schools begin their academic session on the 14th of June. On the same day the MCGM is to provide the 27 necessary school items to students besides commencing the flavoured milks in schools. However, a few days before the beginning of the academic session, the MCGM administration tabled the proposal of flavoured milk at the Standing Committee. Members voiced disappointment on the delay. NCP’s Sr. Corporator in MCGM Niyaz Vanu alleged that the delay was purposely done so that members had no choice but to pass tender of Crores of Rupees in haste without debate or discussions. Leader of House Sunil Prabhu raised his voice against the duration of the contract that was only for 1 year. MCGM Standing Committee Chairman Rahul Shewale too expressed his disappointment and said that the proposal should have been tabled a month back.
