Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik who has gone public with allegations of vote manipulation during the Airoli by-elections has announced that after de-limitation, all residents of the constituency will be re-issued ration cards so that bogus voters can be eliminated from the voters list once and for all. Denials apart, all know that bogus voting happens during elections all the time. Slum proliferation is impossible without political blessings for slum dwellers form the major chunk of voters for most political leaders. This city too has witnessed its share of controversial reports of bogus voting. But this might be arrested soon atleast in the Thane Belpaur assembly constituencies – courtesy the determination Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik is showing for the same. After the Minister went public with allegations of massive bogus voting during the Airoli bi-elections, he has now decided to moot the proposal of issuing new ration cards for all voters in the city after de-limitation. Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik informed NMTV News that he has met Food Supplies Minister for the State Sunil Tatkare to discuss about survey for the delimited areas. No matter what the reason, as long as bogus voting will be discouraged it is a welcome step for democracy at large. With cameraperson Ravi Nikam, Archana Tripathi for NMTV News.
