Gearing up for Ganeshotsav, MCGM takes up road repair work on priority

The Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) will be undertaking the pothole repairs on a priority basis, as the city is gearing up for the most awaited festival of the year Ganeshotsav.

Suresh Sarnobat, member of the Brihanmumbai Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Samanvaya Samiti, “Every year we take a stalk of the potholes on the road and they pose a serious threat to the installation of Ganpati idols across the city.

We have asked the MCGM to inform their contractors about filing the potholes at the earliest in order to avoid fear amongst idol-makers that potholes may cause cracks in the idols while they are being taken to pandals.”

Every year thousands of idols are worshipped and some are as tall as 24 feet. The MCGM has been trying all the possible means to fill the potholes to get rid of them.
