It always feels good snuggling up with a good book after a hard day’s work. Many seem to be doing the same with fiction books by Jeffery Archer, Danielle Steel, Sidney Sheldon, Norah Roberts and Ken Follett. With their vacations on, children are having loads of time in their hands to read books. They are drawn to Tintin, Asterix, Famous Five, Enid Blyton books and the illustrated versions of Nancy Drews. Even health and fitness books are flying off the shelves with everyone more and more conscious of their weight. Even newly published books like “My Country My life”, Chicken soup for the Indian Soul, Shobbhha De’s “Superstar India”, Jhumpa Lahiri’s “Unaccustomed Earth” and Chetan Bhagat’s “The 3 mistakes of my life” are sold by the thousands. Books in Marathi like Mrityunjay, Sriram Yogi, and Chaava are in demand too. The habit of reading books might be diminishing but there are many who still love reading and make it a point to read the latest. This is evident by the many who hound the book shops for more everyday. With cameraperson Gyaneshwar Mali, R Parvathi for NMTV News.
