Interning doctors from the Government Dental College in St George Hospital are up in arms against the management for allowing 62 students from colleges outside the state for internship. Our correspondent Vasudha Dhumak caught up with the students when they were protesting at Azad Maidan and reports. The protesting interns from the Government Dental College in St George Hospital who have stopped work from Wednesday, state that the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS) has broken the rule of allowing only 15% externs in the internship transfer programme. The batch of 84 interns claims that as per the rules, the college should have only 13-14 interns from other colleges, which is 15% of the existing 84 interns. Dean Dr Mansing Pawar has assured them a reply from MUHS at the earliest. The interns claim that all the seats that have been given beyond the 15% limit are questionable and it clearly conveys that there is corruption at a certain level. The interns have written to the dean of the college, Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER) and MUHS. With cameraperson Deepak Kamble, Vasudha Dhumak for NMTV News.
