khoj-2010-Science, as a subject stands for constant renovation, ideation and amalgamation of the past, present, and future for a better, newer and futuristic generation to come. Today, science is also about preserving Nature and handing over a better environment to the generations to come. Khoj 2010, the international science festival organized by the DAV Group was all of this and more. This year, the theme celebrated was bio-diversity. We bring to you a report on the inaugural ceremony of this festival. DAV Center for Creative Education’s popular international science festival Khoj 2010 this year began with the theme of bio-diversity. The festival was inaugurated in a grand ceremony at DAV Public School, New Panvel. The Chief Guest for inaugurating this grand futuristic extravaganza was the Chairman for National Board for Quality promotion Dr. K K Nohria. Also present on this occasion were Vice President of DAVCMC Usha Nair, Vice-Chancellor of Mangalayatan University Prof Bhomitra Dev, Prof V Seshan, Deputy General Manager of Union Bank Vishwanath Dole, DAV Regional Director for Rajasthan zone Y D Jigyasu, Vice President of Head-Design and Development, NIIT Abraham Tharakan and the man whose initiative has taken Khoj festival to its 11th year, Regional Director of DAV schools, Western Region, Dr. K B Kushal. During his speech, Dr. K B Kushal said that the festival was significant as this year more than 2000 students are taken participation in the festival. Khoj is one of the many initiatives of Dr. K B Kushal who is respected for dynamic perspective to making quality education possible. Khoj is an alternative mode of learning where education becomes an experience and fun for students. Dr. K B Kushal emphasized that the objective of Khoj was to bring about a collaborative learning. Khoj 2010 was double celebration for DAV. While the festival this year was celebrated with the theme of bio-diversity, it was a memorable moment for DAV Public School New Panvel as the Quality Council of India has awarded the school with the accreditation for quality management governance. On the occasion, Dr. K B Kushal under whose leadership, DAV schools in the Western Region has been able to reach heights in quality education was felicitated by the chief guest. In an auditorium filled with Science enthusiasts, teachers, students, parents, the purpose of Khoj is to take science education beyond the classroom. Over 2000 students participated in Khoj this year and displayed science projects created right from the thought process and imagination of the young scientists. After inaugurating the exhibition, the chief guest Dr. KK Nohria and the other dignitaries were all praises for the event. Even the parents agreed and said that Khoj festival was a learning not just for their child but for them also. Khoj gave an opportunity to students to interact with scholars and scientists; something that will help children harness their theoretical knowledge to re-create, re-invent and re-discover the realms and mysterious of science. In its 11th year, under the dynamic leadership of Dr. K B Kushal as DAV Center for Creative Educations’ Science Festival Khoj has been successfully installed in the scientific temper in young minds who will tomorrow becomes the citizens and future of the progress of this nation.
