The united nations environment program has named India, for the first time, as the global host of world environment day 2011, for “embracing the process of a transition to a green economy. This year’s theme ‘forests: nature at your service’. Navi Mumbai too will do its bit as green hope’s green mission 2011 of planting 2 lakh trees will begin on world environment day in Navi Mumbai.
In Navi Mumbai, MLA Sandeep Naik’s green hope is all set to embark upon its fourth year of greening Navi Mumbai. This year the green mission 2011 again targets at planting 2 lacs trees in Navi Mumbai. He added that in accordance with the theme, since Navi Mumbai’s forest cover is mostly mangroves, they are creating awareness about mangroves protection. MLA Sandeep Naik says that not only planting but keeping Navi Mumbai clean is equally important, which is responsibility of every citizen.
MLA Sandeep Naik said that green hope is exploring other ways of environment conservation and arresting global warming besides tree plantation. MLA Sandeep Naik also invited all citizens to joins green hope’s green movement 2011.
