MMRDA ambitious plan to construct shops on the proposed skywalks may receive a setback. The Federation of Retail Traders’ Welfare Association has moved court against the authority’s plan to construct elevated shopping plazas. The MMRDA is already facing a tough task going ahead with the construction of shops on skywalks as local residents and shopkeepers from Grant Road (W), Dadar, Mahim and Mulund have raised their voices against the skywalk in their area. Metropolitan Commissioner Ratnakar Gaikwad had earlier said that authority will go ahead with the skywalk construction despite opposition by the local shop owners. But now the situation seems to have changed. With the traders moving court, the MMRDA may have to fight a legal battle to prove its point. The HC has adjourned the matter and it will come up for hearing after November 27. Ajaz Khan – NMTV News.
