MCGM has July 23 and July 24 marked in its calendar. It has forecast the highest tides this monsoon on the two days. However, if we go by weather websites, heavy tides on these days are not likley. The civic body has been worried that the city may be thrown out of gear if heavy rains coincide with the tides. Now, it can heave a sigh of relief. Globally recognised weather websites have ruled out very heavy showers in the city in the next four days. They have forecast scattered thundershowers in the city from Wednesday to Saturday. Even the met department has forecast “sporadic thundershowers with heavy rainfall” in the next 48 hours. The city witnesses heavy flooding when “heavy to very heavy rains” coincide with high tides.
