HIGH COURT ORDERS REMOVAL OF HIGH TENSION WIRES FROM SCHOOL VICINITY – MSEDC DELAYS IMPLEMENTATION

msedc-3The Mumbai High Court had ordered the removal of seven MSEDC cable wires and high tension wire at the playground of S S High School in Nerul but its been six months and MSEDC has failed to remove the wires endangering lives of the students. The S S High School at Sec 44 Nerul does not have any boundary demarcating the playground of the school. Taking advantage of this, MSEDC has installed seven cable wires along with a high tension tower to provide electricity to the nearby buildings. This was done in the year 2007 during summer when the school was closed for holidays. Complaints were made against this many times by the students but to no avail. The school administration then filed a complaint at the NRI police station and when the issue was not resolved, they approached the High Court. The High Court hearing came in favor of the school and MSEDC was directed to remove the cable wires along with the high tension tower within 6 weeks. The hearing was passed in April and it’s been more than six months with MSEDC clearly defying the orders. With cameraperson Vinayak Dalvi, Archana Tripathi for NMTV News.
