The state government which claims to spend crores of rupees for the development of the backward classes seems futile, if one talks about the pathetic condition of the hostels provided to students of these backward classes. Dhiraj Mishra report. While the state takes out several schemes for the development for the backward classes, it hardly reaches this sect of the society. One such example of the state’s failure is the pathetic condition of the hostels provided to students hailing from the backward classes. Be it nutritious food, school uniforms or books, none of these basic amenities are provided to the students on time. Even today out of the 271 hostels in the state, most of them are still on rent. Lack of electricity in the hostels makes life worse for the students. The families of the students and social workers are not allowed to visit the students, one of the reasons why they too are unaware of these pathetic conditions in which students have to live in and study. Working for the backward classes, the NGO – Vanchit Bal Vikas Manch surveyed these hostels and has demanded the government to take immediate action to rectify the issue. He informed that with lack of funds for the development of the these hostels, the facilities for the students are reduced. He threatened that they will file a PIL if the government does not take immediate steps. With cameraperson Vinayak Dalvi, Dhiraj Mishra for NMTV News.
