The Navi Mumbai Hotel Owners’ Association held a press conference at Vashi. The hoteliers raised concern that while action was taken on them by NMMC, the latter failed to take any concrete action on the Chinese stalls across the city which were completely illegal. The Navi Mumbai Hotel Owners’ Association held a press meet to highlight the problems and concerns that are being faced by them. The meet was presided over by the President of the association Kishor Shetty, General Secretary of the association Maruti Bhoir and treasurer Ram Shetty. The hoteliers voiced concern that while they were paying taxes to the government, NMMC was still taking action against them. It maybe recalled that in the last few week, hotels in Navi Mumbai came under the hammer of the NMMC anti-encroachment department for occupying marginal space. The members of the association allege that while demolition was being done, they were being charged a heavy penalty for it. They say that no action is taken on the Chinese stalls which are completely illegal. Speaking in their defense, Kishor Shetty said that hotels given maximum employment to unskilled labor., hence they should be supported by NMMC.
