In a shocking report presented by the Thane Railway Police, negligence and violation of rules has resulted in the death of 260 people and 253 injured. Prominent stations like Thane, Diva and Dombivali come under the Thane Railway Police. Many times accidental deaths have reported in which negligence and violation of railway rules by the commuters leads to accidents like falling of trains, hitting by poles or while crossing railway tracks. Recently, the Thane Railway Police presented a report which showed some shocking statistics. As per the report, around 260 commuters have died with 253 injured in the period between January 2008 to October 2008 which translates into one death and one injured everyday. With around 100 of these bodies not being identified, the administration carried out the last procedures as per policy. He further informed that while there are some who help out during accidental deaths there are also some who take advantage of it and steal personal belongings from the body.
