All 20 alleged members of the Indian Mujahideen arrested so far in connection with the New Delhi and Ahmedabad bomb blasts and Terror emails were booked under the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) and remanded to police custody till October 21. A battery of police officers who appeared before the magistrate’s court claimed that all the accused were part of an organised crime syndicate involved in committing terrorist activities. The remand application says that the arrest of Afzal Mutalib Usmani, a known car thief, from Uttar Pradesh led to the arrest of the others. Usmani broke down before the police and confessed to having stolen the cars from Navi Mumbai that were later used in the Gujarat terror attacks.
