From the beginning of the match it was hard to comment as who would emerge as the winner as both the South Africans as well as the New Zealanders started off on an aggressive note. The first inning in which the South Africans had batted first the game had to be ended in the 43rd over itself because of rain. So the South Africans had set a target of 298 at the loss of 5 wickets. The fact that the South Africans had set a huge target didn’t make much impact on the opponents as the start of the match itself Brendon McCullen the captain of New Zealand team put pressure on the bowlers when he successfully made 59 runs on just 26 balls but soon was been caught out by Dale Steyn in Morne Morkel’s over. But the damage had been done and at the loss of six wickets New Zealand stood victorious making 299 runs at the loss of six wickets.
The match turned out extremely thrilling from the beginning till end as had been expected. The result of the match had been upsetting for some of the players till such extent that many left the ground weeping.
Now all eyes are set on the next semifinal that would be between India and Australia. If Team India are the defending champions then Australians are playing on their home ground. Both the teams would be under extreme pressure to put their best effort to come out victorious. Kiran Kidwai – International Desk, NMTV
