India on high alert in the wake of terror shadow

In the wake of terror shadow that has enveloped the globe, India is all set to issue a country wide terror alert on Wednesday asking all the states to maintain full vigil for at least the next two months.

The advisory comes at a time when festive season of Christmas and New Year is on and the US president Barack Obama has confirmed his presence for the Republic Day parade on January 26.

We cannot take things lightly in the light of incidents that have taken place recently. First, it was the discovery of ISIS Twitter handle that was being run from Bangalore, then the Sydney hostage crisis situation and now a brutal terror attack by Taliban on school children in the immediate neighbourhood, said sources.

The arrival of Obama, who is already high on the target of international terrorist organisations makes it all the more important for the intelligence agencies to not to take things lightly.

Sources added that though terror attack by Taliban that killed at least 146 school children is not directly connected to India, the network of hardened affiliate terrorists like Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT), al Qaeda, Indian Mujahideen (IM), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and JMB etc. can always get emboldened by such incidents and take the fancy to do something more to keep the momentum of terror strikes.

Basing its alert on Intel inputs, the Centre fears that terror attacks can happen at public places having large number of footfalls, especially owing to festive season towards the year end. Sources discounted the possibility of a terror attack on the lines of 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks but said that Metros need to be more watchful.

A detailed advisory is expected to be issued by the union home ministry on Wednesday telling state governments, markets associations, railway stations, religious places and Shopping Malls to take specific steps to thwart an attack.

There are several intelligent inputs and developments, details of which cannot be shared with the public as it could nullify the operations that are being done by the security agencies, sources said.Pakistan_LeT_terrorist
