Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani achieve his goals, maintaining nuclear rights as well as pulling the country from years of international isolation

Iran economy had faced a huge downfall after it had been isolated by the western countries for maintaining nuclear activities. But as soon as President Hassan Rouhani took office his main focus was to somehow maintain their right for nuclear activities as well as lifting all those sanctions that had been laid on them. To some extent Rouhani did manage to achieve what he wanted. Compromising to some extent Iran has settled to halt some of its nuclear activities. And with Iran cooperating in peace talks, UN and the western powers lifted most of the sanctions that had been laid on Iran during the rule of former leader Ahmedinejad.
While some were happy with Rouhani’s decision, there were others who expressed disapproval. While addressing a group of students, Rouhani justified his decisions stating that along with nuclear development, the government also has to maintain the growth of the economy so that the country can grow its people can grow.
‘Nuclear energy is our absolute right, yes, but the right to progress, development, improving people’s livelihood and welfare are also our rights. We need to strike the right balance between idealism and realism. This government is committed to all its promises, but we need internal consensus. We need to be more tolerant, rational and avoid being too emotional’ as stated by Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani. Kiran Kidwai – International Desk, NMTV
