With the mayoral elections tilting in favor of the Congress and the defecting of Smita Thackeray from the Shiv Sena party, many are questioning if the hold of the Sena in the political arena of Maharashtra is taking a backseat. In the history of its 40 years establishment, the present scenario of the Shiv Sena can be termed as one of the worst. In past few years, close aids of Shiv Sena including Sanjay Nirupam, Narayan Rane and Raj Thackray had quit from the party. The process continued with even Smita Thackeray calling it quits and defecting from the party. Even in a recent interview with an English newspaper, Smita had expressed her suffocation. Her son Rahul Thackeray had spoken to the media on this comment. On the other hand, Shiv Sena Executive President Uddhav Thackaray said that everyone was free to take their own decision. Whereas happy with the comments made on Congress leaders, Congress party State President Manikrao Thackaray spoke to the media. With cameraperson Raju Sharma, Dhiraj Mishra for NMTV news.
