Its 49th Birthday of Box office Dabangg Khan Salman

Having started his career with a miniscule role in the Farooque Sheikh-Rekha starrer ‘Biwi Ho Toh Aisi’, Salman Khan has built his career from being known as Salim Khan’s eldest son to the superstar that he is today. An all time blockbuster as his second movie ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’, Salman Khan started trends that none else could dare to even think of.

Be it the ‘sanskaari’ Prem of Rajshri Films, the ill-fated lover of ‘Tere Naam’ or the action hero of movies like ‘Dabangg’, ‘Kick’ and ‘Ready’, Salman Khan is one phenomenon that every cinegoer can reckon and relate to.

There have been troughs in his career and not just once but many. After mesmerizing audiences with his ‘Prem’ avatar, he gave hits with movies like ‘Sanam Bewafa’ and ‘Saajan’. With Rajkumar Santoshi’s ‘Andaz Apna Apna’ (1994) with Aamir Khan, he displayed his exceptional comic timing and showed he can actually act.

Then came the first lull in his career. He gave as many as six flops in a row, calling to critics to number him out from the rat race.

But Salman Khan out numbered everybody with the 1994 release – Rajshri Films’ ‘Hum Aapke Hain Koun’ opposite Madhuri Dixit, which catapulted him back to the stardom. Then with movies like ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain’, ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’ and ‘Chori Chori Chupke Chupke’, Salman kept the audiences reminding about himself, about his presence.

Come year 2003, and came the second lease of life for Salman in the Industry – ‘Tere Naam’. He played Radhe, the star crossed, jilted and ill-fated lover, with utmost sincerity. And yet again set the trend of the ‘Radhe Cut’ – the loose mop of hair, mid-parted and falling over the forehead.

With Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan, he formed the famous Khan Trinity ruling the box office. His popularity was at par with the other two but his movies weren’t doing as well. Out of three films per year only one movie would be a hit and the other two flops. This continued for the next five years. As an actor, Salman Khan was appreciated in movies like ‘Phir Milenge’ (2004) and ‘Kyun Ki’ (2005).

His career was going downwards. Then came the TV show ‘Dus Ka Dum’, and as he has the habit of turning everything under his stride, he was a success in this too. And yet again, with the movie ‘Wanted’, he started the trend of ‘Sal-mania’ in the industry. Like Rajinikanth, the audiences ‘ooohed’ and ‘aaahed’ at every move of his, be it his unique style of dancing or the action.

The ‘Sal-mania’ was taken notches higher with his stint as the host of the show ‘Bigg Boss’. He infused his sense of humour and a fair sense of judgement into an otherwise controversial show.

‘Dabangg’ (2010) was the biggest turning point of Salman Khan’s career. His character ‘Chulbul Pandey’ became a cult. This was his career best performance. He also won countless awards for the film. For the first time in his career, Salman was rated as No 1 in the film industry.

With movies like ‘Ready’ and ‘Bodyguard’ (both in 2011), he cemented his place in the Industry as the ultimate Style Icon.

Known for his generous ways, Salman Khan has helped launch many actresses in the industry, be it Katrina Kaif in ‘Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya’ (2005) and Sonakshi Sinha ‘Dabangg’ (2010). He has also helped other stars to establish their careers in the industry, leave alone inspiring them to make something worthwhile out of their lives. Arjun Kapoor, Varun Dhawan and Hrithik Roshan always spoken of how Salman has motivated them and helped them at every stage of their career.

It is because of these reasons and many more that the ‘Sal-maniacs’ are increasing day by day. Today, Salman Khan stands at this juncture of his life that he needs no introduction; infact he himself has become one for the cinema lovers.

2014 has been distinctly and exceptionally well for the superstar. Not only his movie ‘Kick’ became the highest grosser for the year, but became the highest one for his career too. Now with a slew of movies in his “wallet” (he is making a comeback with Rajshri with ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ and ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’) and the sword of the jail term dangling over his head, we can only hope that everything fares out well soon; because reports say as large as a sum of more than Rs 300 cr rakes on Salman’s credits. But then, his career graph is enough to show the steel this man is made of. He erupts with a greater force that before everytime he bows down.

Salman Khan’s style, his charisma makes him one of the most eligible bachelors on the movie industry. While we still wait for Mrs Khan (and guess we will keep waiting only), we hope he remains the way he is all through his life – The Quintessential Salman Khan and the ‘Sal-mania’ reaches the highest.

We wish the superstar a very happy birthday and happier times ahead.salmankhan-10facts-big
