It’s been seven months and the residents of Pereirawadi in Bandra are still in hope of restoring back their homes that were demolished mercilessly by MHADA. It was a nightmarish experience for the residents of Pereirawadi in Bandra when Mhada razed down their houses seven month back. Residents were in a confused state not knowing why it happened as they had all the requisite documents for living there. The residents call this as their ancestral property where their families have been living for a very long time. A resident of Pereirawadi whose house was demolished says she does not know which builder demolished her house that too when none of the residents had signed any agreement with any builder. The residents informed that the plot belonged to a Horesh Pereira and Forisik Pereira and that the price of the plot was close to Rs 500 crore, the reason why it was being eyed by the land mafia. Today the residents are forced to stay either under a shed they have made beside their broken houses or at relative’s houses. The residents have also stated that they have filed a PIL in the Mumbai High Court in hopes of retrieving back their homes. With cameraperson Vinayak Dalvi, Hansraj Kanaujia for NMTV News.
