Cong-bjp-antsNMTV Predictions and analysis has come true. A day prior to filing nominations, Congress, Shiv Sena and BJP corporators resigned from all their party posts to officially join the NCP. The corporators were officially inducted in the NCP party in a party workers meet held at Bhavkaleshwar Temple in the presence of Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik. Ants always move where there is sugar and in the present political scenario, it’s the Congress, Shiv Sena and BJP ants who are moving towards the NCP sugar. Knowing that there political identity and their wards can be saved only if they join the NCP, many prominent names of the Navi Mumbai units of the Congress, Shiv Sena and BJP officially resigned from all their party posts and joined the NCP. These included Congress corporator Vaishali Tidke and Dilip Tidke, lone BJP corporator Bharat Jadhav, Shiv Sena corporator Vithal More, Independent corporator Madhavi Shinde, former Congress corporator Raju Shinde, Independent corporator Narayan Patil and Shiv Sena corporators Shivram Patil and Anita Patil. Prior to municipal elections, the defection of these corporators who represented the strong contenders of their parties is being seen as a major set back to the Congress, Shiv Sena and BJP party in Navi Mumbai. Ever since municipal elections were declared, names of corporators from other political parties wanting to join NCP started doing the rounds. Even as party workers and office bearers of other parties were joining the NCP party, the corporators waited till the very last. At that time, speaking to NMTV News Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik accepted that party workers of other parties did want to come into NCP. However, he first advised them to think if they will be benefit by coming to NCP. Many who were defecting said that they don’t want anything and they don’t want any post but want to work under Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik’s leadership. He added that those who want to come would be welcomed and even those who do not want to come would be respected. One of the defecting couple from the Congress, Dilip Tidke and his wife Vaishali Tidke spoke to NMTV News and said that left the Congress party as the party was growing weak under its present local leadership. Congress corporator Vaishali Tidke who defected to the NCP with her husband said that she wanted to stay in a party where there was respect for women. The NCP created history in the parliamentary elections by dethroning Shiv Sena in Thane constituency and again created a record of sorts by winning the Airoli and Belapur assembly seats. With the waves riding in favour of the NCP under Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik, the NCP is the single strongest party in Navi Mumbai that is all set to sweep to majority in NMMC again, say political analysts. In such a scenario, its not difficult to understand that all those who defected could see this and post elections, did not want to sit in the opposition but with the ruling front in NMMC. If you can’t beat them, join them. When senior corporators of other political parties understood that they cannot beat the powerful NCP in Navi Mumbai, they decided to join them. And this has spelt very bad news for the Congress, BJP and Shiv Sena in Navi Mumbai that are their worst form till date. With the official entrance of their star corporators into NCP, the challenges to put up a decent show municipal elections 2010 has become a Himalayan task for the opposition in Navi Mumbai.
