There’s been another major development in the FSI for Navi Mumbai. Making it official for the first time the state has declared 2.5 FSI for Navi Mumbai in the on-going state budget session. Seeing that the election promise made by Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik is concretizing way faster than was expected, even the BJP seems to be backing the demand of the Minister Ganesh Naik in the legislature. Until now the announcements of 2.5 FSI for Navi Mumbai were coming from the closed-door meetings between the Chief Minister’s office, Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik, MLA Sandeep Naik and other leaders of both the sides. However, in a very significant development in the matter, for the 1st time an official announcement on it has come from the horses’ mouth. The state government has made 2.5 FSI for Navi Mumbai official by declaring the same in the on-going state assembly session. The issue has been continuously raised by Thane Guardian Ganesh Naik in the cabinet and with the Chief Minister and MLA Sandeep Naik in the state budget session. Finally, taking cognizance of the seriousness of the matter, the Chief Minister last week had ordered the UD Dept. to make a report on the issue so that the process of a GR on it could be initiated. It may be recalled that Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik had informed about the proceedings of the closed door meeting in which this decision was taken to the media outside Vidhan Bhavan. Even as the city was celebrating this major development, there is another good news being reported with the state officially declaring 2.5 FSI for Navi Mumbai in the on-going state budget session. State Minister for Urban Development Bhaskar Jadhav informed the same to the media outside Vidhan Bhavan. He said that there are 2.5 lacs residents living in dilapidated CIDCO homes who have been awaiting additional FSI to redevelop their homes. He said that after the continuous follow up of the issue by Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik, the state has now made the official declaration of the same in the assembly. Seeing that the election promise made by Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik is concretizing way faster than was expected, even the BJP seems to be backing the demand of the Minister Ganesh Naik in the legislature. BJP legislatures raised the same issue in the state legislative council. It does not come as a surprise that with the state making an official announcement of 2.5 FSI, which it cannot back track from; the opposition knows better than to oppose it. Like they say, if you can’t beat them, join them. With cameraperson Raju Sharma, Sana Warsia for NMTV News.
