While wards from 88 candidates still have to wait till April 12 for finding out their fate in these elections, one candidate will sleep peacefully. He’s Sagar Naik – who was awarded his certificate of corporatorship from the Election Commission at the Koperkhairane ward office. Before the elections itself, the NCP party has won one of the battles – even if it was a small one. NCP candidate from ward no 28 Sagar Naik was officially announced the unopposed elected corporator of the ward at the Koperkhairane ward office. Sagar Naik was handed over the Election Certificate at the hands of the presiding election officer. Present to support him were Thane MP Dr. Sanjeev Naik, MLA Sandeep Naik and his father Dyaneshwar Naik. Speaking to the media, corporator Sagar Naik gave the credit of his victory to the people of his ward along his party high commands. Thane MP Dr. Sanjeev Naik too spoke to the media about his victory. The NCP party has already opened its account in the next house of NMMC, to which MLA Sandeep Naik expressed his happiness. Sagar Naik was elected unopposed after Shiv Sena Hamid Fakki and Congress candidate Ravish Patel respectively withdrew their nominations. Besides the Sena and Congress candidates, independent contestant Parvez Patel retreated from the polls as well. With cameraperson Praveen Ithape, Sana Warsia for NMTV News.
