On the occasion of Maharashtra Day, the Mumbai police held a tetu program at Shivaji Park where many police jawans displayed a unique performance for the audience. They are often not subjects of appreciation but when the jawans of Maharashtra State Police Force did perform at Maharashtra Day celebrations at Shivaji Park, Mumbai, they astounded the audience unanimously winning the spectators applause. Around 2000 jawans participated in this event. Where on one side, the jawans presented demonstrations. The event was graced with the presence of Dy. CM R R Patil, DGP A N Roy, Mumbai Police Commissioner Hasan Gafoor and Navi Mumbai Police Commissioner Ramrao Wagh among others. The event began with the parade by SRP jawans. Where on one side the men of the force showed wrestling, the women displayed their physical strength to the tee. Another highlight was the lezim dance. They jawans also left spectators spell bound with their motorcycles presentations. The winner of the event was the torch parade where the performers spelled words like Welcome, Jai Hind, Maharashtra Day and Police Tatoo. No points for guessing that the show put up by the jawans impressed the guests and spectators alike including Dy. Chief Minister and Home Minister R R Patil who praised his force. DGP A N Roy said that these events help citizens know the Mumbai police force in the positive and closer light. He added that the police force was doing a commendable job, however periodical rectifications take their own course. While political parties took advantage of the day to give routine speeches, the State Police Force’s Maharashtra Day celebrations were a class apart – for they gave the message that work and not words makes a difference to society and its people.
